Police: man crushed by loading equipment at Stop & Shop warehouse

FREETOWN, Mass. — A 51-year-old man was crushed by a piece of equipment at the Stop & Shop distribution center in Freetown, according to police.

The man, later identified as Alphonse Ferent  of Stoughton,fell between a tractor trailer and a loading dock when a jack used to unload pallets from the trailer fell on him, Freetown Police Chief Carlton Abbott told FOX25.

The man was rushed to Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River where he was pronounced dead, according to police.

It happened shortly after midnight and police are investigating the incident.
