Police: Male suspect tries to rob Meridian Street business

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) – Police are searching for a male suspect who reportedly attempted to rob a convenience store on Meridian Street in East Boston on Thursday night.

Police responded to an Exxon-Mobil gas station located at 470 Meridian St. around 7:12 p.m. for a report of an attempted robbery.

The clerk told police that the suspect reached for his waistband area and demanded money. The clerk twice refused to hand over any cash, and the suspect walked out of the store headed in the direction of the Shore Plaza Development.

Officers canvassed the area to no avail.

The suspect is reportedly a black male and is approximately 5'11" tall. At the time of the incident, the suspect was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, sunglasses, and blue jeans. He also had a beard.
