Police looking for 2 SUVs in hit and run that killed boy

MILFORD, Mass. — Wednesday afternoon, police continue to look for two vehicles in connection to a hit and run that killed a 4-year-old boy. They are now using surveillance video to help in their search efforts.

Three days after 4-year-old Jonathan Loja was hit and killed on Water Street, Milford police are looking for two vehicles and their drivers: a dark-colored 2010 Chevy Traverse and a 2015 or 2016 light-colored Nissan Rogue, possibly silver or grey.

Neighbors at Water Street said Wednesday they didn’t recognize the vehicles involved.

Tuesday, police cleared the red Toyota Scion that they originally believed was the vehicle involved in the hit and run.

The timestamp on surveillance video obtained from a local gas station shows the red Scion drove down Water Street, away from the scene, at 4:44 p.m. Police say Jonathan was hit and killed at 4:47 p.m. A police cruiser responded to the scene at 4:50 p.m.

Sam Assad, Manager of the Gulf Station says his surveillance video doesn’t show either suspect vehicle during that time.

“It's a shame that whoever is responsible didn't stop. I feel very sorry for the family,” said neighbor Patrick Lally.

Milford’s Police Chief says they are now focusing on the Chevy Traverse as the vehicle that may have struck Jonathan.
