(FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - Transit Police officers arrested a Boston man who reportedly stole an iPhone from a commuter at the Bolyston MBTA station on Monday.

Officers responded to the call around 12:15 p.m. on Monday.

The victim told Transit Police that a male stole his Apple iPhone 5 right out of his hand and immediately fled the station. The victim, as well as another concerned citizen, chased after the thief, who was later identified as 20-year-old Derek Virgilio.

The victim, the concerned citizen, and an MBTA officer caught up with the suspect at the corner of Washington Street and West Street. Police retrieved the victim's iPhone 5 from Virgilio's sleeve and placed him under arrest.

Virgilio was charged with unarmed robbery and was scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday at Boston Municipal Court.
