2-year-old shot in Roxbury, police believe father was target

BOSTON — A 2-year-old girl was shot in Roxbury Saturday afternoon.

The shooting happened near 10 Winslow St. while the child was sitting in the back of a car. Police said the bullet went through her arm and leg.

The girl's father drove her to Boston Medical Center as a walk-in. She is expected to be okay.

Boston police believe the toddler's father was the target of the shooting. HE is known to police because of his gang connections.

"He's not being too cooperative," said Commissioner William Evans.

Commissioners Evans visited the 2-year-old at the hospital and said she's doing okay.

"It breaks your heart that a young innocent kid like that who has no clue what's going on gets hit," said Evans.

Last week, a 9-year-old girl was shot near a playground in Roxbury at 1 a.m.

Because police are not getting much cooperation from the victim's father police are still looking for help from the public to find the shooter.

Monday evening, the Boston Police Department released photos showing a Person of Interest in connection with the shooting.
