Bullets fly into Manchester room where 12-year-old was sleeping

MANCHESTER, N.H. — Manchester, New Hampshire Police are investigating who shot into an apartment building.

Around 12:30 a.m. Thursday, Manchester Police responded to the 200 block of Central Street after a resident reported gunshots in the area.

When officers arrived, they found more than nine bullet holes on the first floor of a Central Street three-family home; five in a window, one in the wall and three more in another window.

The mother and 12-year-old who live in the apartment said they were awoken by the sound of gunshots and noticed the bullet holes. Neither of them were injured.

"I don't know what happened. I don't know why. Shots come in through, inside. My son was sleeping here," said Beatrice Habyalimana.

As officers searched the area, they found several spent shell casings outside of the apartment.

"We did locate several shell casings that appeared to be fired from a handgun. It's unknown at this time whether they were in a car or on the sidewalk," said Lt. Brian O'Keefe. "We're actually hopeful someone in the public either has surveillance video somewhere in that area or someone was up looking out the window and may have seen a car, a person, a group of people, whatever."

If you have any information, you're asked to call Manchester Police.
