Police investigating after body found in Mattapan house

BOSTON – Police have been at a Mattapan home all day after finding a body in the attic of a home.

It’s unclear exactly what happened, but others who live on Cedar Street told Boston 25 News they are stunned.

“I grew up in this neighborhood, and it's something that, it's not a norm,” Richard McHugh said.

The house was taped off as investigators went up and down the stairs in crime scene suits and masks while removing evidence from the top floor.

Boston police said there were no obvious signs of trauma on the body, but the medical examiner is still working to determine the cause of death.

Neighbors are eager to find out what happened, and hope there’s no foul play.

“That's why the police, let them do their job and they're the ones that are going to figure it out. Hopefully nothing criminal,” McHugh said.

Police have not released the identity of the deceased person or said if they were a resident of the building.
