BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Boston police closed down an area near Government Center Saturday on reports of a suspicious package.
Investigators say the package was found just before 10 a.m. at the corner of Congress and New Chardon streets.
According to the Boston Globe, the package contained metal electrical components, wires, and a "powder-like" substance. Officials tell the newspaper they do not believe the package was an explosive, but they plan to investigate further.
The discovery forced TD Bank Mayor'S Cup organizers to delay the annual cycling race.
