• Police in NH search for pipe-wielding robbery suspect


    MANCHESTER, N.H. (MyFoxBoston.com) – Police in Manchester, N.H. are searching for a male suspect accused of robbing a Maple Street store armed with a pipe.

    Police responded to the Hans Food Mart located at 353 Maple Street at about 10 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a robbery.

    Upon arrival, the clerk told police a man entered the store and approached the counter demanding money. When the clerk said no, the man allegedly produced a metal pipe and again demanded money.

    The clerk said she opened the register and the suspect reached over the counter and removed cash from the drawer.

    Police said the clerk then retrieved a knife to defend herself and the suspect responded by smashing open a jewelry display case near the door, removing three necklaces from the case, and then smashed open another display case near the counter, taking four more necklaces.

    The suspect then fled the store. The pipe he had brandished during the robbery was recovered from the floor of the store, police said.

    The suspect is described as a black male, about 5'7 to 5'8" tall, and 140 to150 pounds. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a scarf or turtle-neck over his lower face and a black hooded sweatshirt. The suspect reportedly had a scar or perhaps a cleft pallet on the left side of his face/mouth.
