• Police find pot, cocaine following shooting at Attleboro home


    ATTLEBORO, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – Police said they found drugs and marijuana-growing paraphernalia following a Sunday night shooting inside an Attleboro home.

    It happened just before 11 p.m. at 44 Smith St. The house is located on the Norton town line.

    When officers arrived, they found a man had been shot in the abdomen and a woman administering first aid. The man, identified as Michael Briggs, was taken to Rhode Island Hospital where he was listed in stable condition.

    Police said when they were searching the home they found 18 three- to four-foot-tall marijuana plants as well as 54 grams of cocaine and Oxycodone pills. Police said they also found $24,000 in cash, large overhead cultivation lights and a heavy duty exhaust fan.

    Police said charges would be filed for narcotics violations.

    Meanwhile, officers were searching for a number of men in connection with the shooting. They said the men left the home in a   dark-colored four-door sedan. Police said they believe the shooting was related to the drugs in the home.
