Suspect slams car into Billerica police SUV

BILLERICA, Mass. — A Billerica police officer was injured when a vehicle slammed into the back of their SUV early Thursday morning, state police said.

The officer was attempting to stop a wanted domestic assault suspect on Route 3 north just after 3:30 a.m. when the vehicle slammed into the back of the police SUV.

The unidentified male suspect then fled the scene on foot.

State police, K-9 units and the state police Air Wing responded to the area and assisted with the search.

The suspect was taken into custody about an hour later, state police said.

The police officer received minor injuries. It’s unclear if the officer was taken to a hospital.

No other information was released.
