Police continue to investigate Worcester man's death

BOSTON (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of a Worcester man who was found lying in the street with a head injury in Boston's Financial District on Saturday.

The victim was found by police unconscious at Franklin and Broad streets just after 2:15 a.m. Saturday. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Police have not named the victim, but co-workers have identified him as  Steven DiRoberto, 27, of Worcester.

Maxwell Burke, an owner of Boston Luxe Real Estate where DiRoberto was a licensed real estate salesman, says DiRoberto was on the fast track to becoming a partner.

When FOX 25 asked what kind of person he was, Burke described him as "the best kind."

"Always ready with an easy laugh or quick quip, his exuberance for life was infectious," said Burke. "He was friends with everyone and there is a giant hole in so, so many hearts today."

DiRoberto was a 2008 Worcester State University graduate where he played on the baseball team.

Worcester State University issued a statement to the university community on Monday saying, "Worcester State University mourns the loss of Steven M. DiRoberto Jr., a 2008 graduate majoring in finance.  The Counseling Center will be available for any student, faculty or staff member who wishes to speak with them.  The WSU community extends sincerest condolences to Steven's family and we will keep them in our thoughts and prayers."
