Police continue search for missing Marion man

FAIRHAVEN, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – Fairhaven Police found the kayak that belongs to a man who went missing on Tuesday, but are still searching the waters and on foot for the man.

Police found the kayak of 21-year-old Dana Dourdeville off of West Island Tuesday night.

On Tuesday, Dourdeville was going duck hunting and brought his kayak with him, police said. His mother went looking for him when he didn't return home. She saw his car in the West Island town beach parking lot before 7 p.m., but did not see her son anywhere.

The U.S. Coast Guard located the kayak about 3 miles offshore between West Island and Falmouth at about 11 p.m. Tuesday. Fairhaven police Sgt. Kevin Kobza says there was a single glove inside and it did not seem like the kayak had flipped.

Searchers used aircraft, boats and all-terrain vehicles to search the east side of West Island, the Little Bay area and surrounding conservation land to find Dourdeville.

Family friend Bob Jones said, "It's very, very cold and I don't imagine anybody could last very long in that cold water out there."

He went on to say that he is hoping and praying that Dourdeville will be found.

The 21-year-old is described as a thin, white male with brown hair. He is about 5'10" tall and was wearing brown pants and a red life jacket.
