Police: Conn. man poisoned boss's oatmeal

WATERBURY, Conn. (AP) — A former Waterbury parks department worker has been charged with poisoning his boss's oatmeal after an argument over the employee's job performance.

Police told the Republican-American of Waterbury (http://bit.ly/Ugs8IB ) that 43-year-old William Lampron of Naugatuck laced his boss's oatmeal in October with a chemical substance called SpeedyDry that's used for soaking up spills on roadways. He was charged Wednesday with felony assault and reckless endangerment.

Lampron's supervisor ate the oatmeal and developed severe stomach problems, but recovered. Police say one of the ingredients in the substance was a carcinogen, crystalline silica.

Lampron posted $5,000 bail and is due in Waterbury Superior next Wednesday. He was placed on administrative leave after the incident and resigned Monday.

There's no phone listing for Lampron and it's not clear if he has a lawyer.
