Police: Boston woman attempts to abduct child from MBTA bus

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – A Boston woman is likely facing attempted kidnapping and assault and battery charges after she reportedly tried to abduct a child she claimed was hers while aboard a Route 47 MBTA bus.

The Cambridge Police Dept. has issued an arrest warrant for 36-year-old Danyelle Abrams for attempted kidnapping and two counts of assault and battery.

According to police, Abrams approached a 5-year-old child who was waiting with family members at a bus stop in the area of Massachusetts Avenue and Pearl Street in Cambridge at about 9:20 p.m. on July 29.

The child's family told police Abrams kept approaching the child and attempting to talk to him. When family members asked Abrams to stop, she reportedly got angry and began to yell.

The Boston Herald reports Abrams kept claiming the boy was her son.

Shortly thereafter, the Route 47 bus arrived and the child boarded the bus with his family. Abrams also got on the bus and once again tried to engage the child. When family members persisted she leave the boy alone, she grabbed the child by his waist and an altercation ensued.

Abrams then reportedly fled the bus.

Following an investigation, officers identified Abrams as the suspect; however, Abrams had already been taken into custody for an unrelated incident that occurred at the Dudley MBTA station on July 30.

Abrams is being charged with malicious destruction of property for that incident in which she allegedly shattered the glass of a bus door as it was stopped at the corner of Massachusetts Avenue and Washington Street.
