Police: Body found in N.H. creek is not Lizzi Marriott

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Police tell FOX 25 they do not believe a body found in a New Hampshire creek Tuesday belongs to missing University of New Hampshire student Lizzi Marriott.

Investigators allege the Westborough native's body was dumped in the Piscataqua River, which flows into the Sagamore Creek, in 2012. Seth Mazzaglia, of Dover, has been charged for his alleged connection to Marriott's murder.

Police were called to the scene at about 1 p.m. Tuesday after the body was found beneath Sagamore Creek Bridge in Portsmouth.

According to Seacoastonline.com, the body was clothed and badly decomposed. Officials tell the website it appears the body was in the water for "a while." They would not comment on the woman's identity.

An autopsy was scheduled to determine the woman's cause of death.
