LONDONDERRY, N.H. (MyFoxBoston.com) – A teenager found a dead, decomposed white cat inside a backpack half-submerged in a pond on Hall Road in Londonderry Monday afternoon, police said.
According to The NH Union Leader, police interviewed the teen and his mother at about 4:30 p.m. regarding his discovery.
The teen told police he was walking in the area when he came upon the backpack, which was partially submerged in a pond about a half mile from a railroad bed. The backpack had been filled with rocks and a decomposed white cat, reports the newspaper.
Police said it appeared the backpack had been in the pond for an extended period of time.
An investigation is underway.
