Updated:NORTH ADAMS, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A local police department has issued an extremely specific request to residents: please don't chase bears through the woods with a hatchet.
"If you see a bear, LEAVE IT ALONE" a post on the department's page read. "We certainly don't need anyone going all Davy Crockett chasing it through the woods drunk with a dull hatchet."
According to the post, a man was taken into protective custody for drunkenly committing such an act.
"We are still trying to figure out what his end game was," the post continued. "Any thoughts on what he was going to do if he did locate it? We would certainly like to hear because we have no idea."
