• Police arrest man wanted for Middleborough double stabbing


    QUINCY, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A man who police say stabbed two men in Middleborough on Christmas Day has been found and arrested.

    John Barsell was arrested Saturday night in Quincy and is currently being held on $50,000 bail, Middleborough police confirmed. He will be arraigned Monday in Wareham District Court.

    According to police, the double stabbing happened Wednesday at 3:10 a.m. at an apartment on Main Street in Middleborough. Matthew Carreiro, 35, and Davin Gordon, 31, suffered serious injuries from stab wounds and were transported to a nearby hospital.

    Before being stabbed, the victims were at a party and became involved in an altercation with John Barsell, 52. Police said Barsell stabbed the two victims and fled, escaping police until Saturday evening.

    Barsell was wanted for two counts of attempted murder and three counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
