Police: 90-year-old man killed by teenager who ran red light

ROCKLAND, Mass. -- Police say a teenager ran a red light and caused a crash that killed a 90-year-old Rockland man Monday afternoon.

Lt. Nicholas Zeoli told Boston 25 News the driver, a 17-year-old from Scituate, was driving on East Water Street around 1 p.m. when he ran a red light at Howard Street and crashed into a car. The driver of the car was taken to South Shore Hospital, where he died.

The victim is Francis Cahill of Rockland, according to Plymouth County District Attorney Spokeswoman Beth Stone.

The 17-year-old hasn't been identified.

The crash remains under investigation. So far, no charges have been filed.
