Police: 4 kids injured in Springfield DUI crash

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) - Massachusetts State Police say four children were injured when the car they were riding in rolled over on Interstate 291 in Springfield in a drunk driving crash.

Authorities responded to the accident in the westbound lanes near Exit 3 at about 11:45 p.m. Saturday. Troopers say the car the children were in collided with another car and flipped over. Police say the children, ages 1 to 10, were treated for non-life threatening injuries at Baystate Medical Center.

A man driving the car with the children was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. His name hasn't been released. A woman driving the other car wasn't injured.

Minutes after the accident, there was another alleged drunk driving crash on I-291 eastbound near Exit 6 that caused minor injuries. State police say a driver was arrested.
