EVERETT, Mass. – Police in Everett are investigating after a shooting Thursday night that left one victim in serious condition.
The 23-year-old victim was shot at least once in the neck, police tell Boston 25 News reporter Jacob Long.
Everett police spent several hours gathering evidence near the skating area of the Thomas Rossetti Park on Tremont Street.
One neighbor said she heard what sounded like five loud bangs around 5 p.m. and then saw police swarming the area.

Police believe a group of four or five other young men fled the area, possibly on scooters.
The victim was found in a different area over on Broadway. Officers said they recovered clothing from the scene, and a large gun they say “they don’t normally see in this area.”
Boston 25 News has learned police do not believe this was a random shooting, and they are looking to cameras in the area to help identify suspects.
Off camera, neighbors told Boston 25 News Thursday night’s incident is highly unusual for the area and that during the summer months, this park is busy with kids.
