Man accused of threatening to kill police officers arrested after standoff

MARSHFIELD, Mass. -- One person was arrested in Marshfield Wednesday afternoon when he allegedly threatened to kill a police officer, city and county officials told Boston 25 News.

Police arrested Michael Rembisz and said they found several loaded guns in his car and house.

Last week, Rembisz was arrested for a traffic stop, and a family member said he became extremely agitated. That family member also told Boston 25 News he had "developed an anarchist mindset" and began acquiring guns.

“The family member had detailed info about Rembisz having guns and was concerned about his deteriorating mental status and emotional state of mind,” Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz said.

The SWAT team was called to his house on Surrey Drive around noon Wednesday. He attempted to run after officers set up a perimeter around the home, but he was caught and taken into custody.

“We just learned today that he had made threats against the officers who had arrested him and that he had accumulated firearms and that he wanted to hunt them,” Marshfield Police Chief Phil Tavares said.

Rembisz is facing several charges including two counts of threatening to commit a crime - murder, two counts of intimidating a government witness, two counts of possession of an unlicensed firearm and three counts of possession of ammunition. He's set to appear in court Thursday.
