Plymouth warns of undetonated fireworks washing ashore

PLYMOUTH, Mass. — The town of Plymouth is warning beach goers that undetonated fireworks will be washing ashore the beach due to the July 4 fireworks barge fire.

Police say a malfunction caused the explosion about 15 minutes into the fireworks show on the waterfront Monday. This resulted in many of the fireworks not exploding.

The town said that fireworks shells will wash ashore most likely at Long Beach and possibly Nelson's Park and Stephen's Field.

The town said they are working to clean up the fireworks, but due to tides, more could be washing up over the next few days.

Plymouth Fire says that the shells should not be touched, and if spotted, Plymouth Police or Fire should be called immediately. These fireworks are very dangerous and could result in serious injuries.
