Plane flips over at Beverly airport

BEVERLY, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – A plane flipped over and landed on its roof at the Beverly Municipal Airport Wednesday.

The Federal Aviation Administration said the plane was attempting to land when it flipped.

The plane's owner, Joe Gibbons, told FOX 25 the people in the plane were not injured in the crash. Gibbons said he leases the plane to the Beverly Flight Center and was not on board at the time.

Video from SkyFox showed the plane, seemingly spread eagle, just off the runway. The plane's tire tracks as well as propeller mark could be seen on the ground in front of the plane.

Gibbons said leasing the plane to the flight school offsets its cost, "unless it gets flipped over, of course."

The FAA is investigating the crash.
