Pizza Hut manager claims he was fired for refusing to open on Thanksgiving

ELKHART, Ind. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A former Indiana Pizza Hut manager claims he was fired for not opening up his store on Thanksgiving.

Tony Rohr says he was told it was mandatory to open up his Elkhart Pizza Hut this year. Normally Thanksgiving and Christmas are the only two days out of the year the pizza chain is closed.

Rohr told his bosses he would not open the store and thus says he was let go. He claims he did it for his employees and instead of signing a letter of resignation, which is what he says Pizza Hut told him to do, he wrote a rebuttal letter explaining his decision.

"I said, 'Why can't we be the company that stands up and says we care about our employees and they can have the day off?'" Rohr said of his letter. "In the whole year, they're the only two days that those people are guaranteed to have off and spend it with their families."

Rohr's bosses say he quit and the decision to open the restaurant on Thanksgiving came from the corporate level, not the regional level.
