Pit Bull shot multiple times in Westport, rescue shelter asks for support

WESTPORT (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) A rescue shelter for Pit Bulls is asking for the public's help in helping a dog that was shot multiple times in the leg.

Handsome Dan's Rescue for Pit Bull Type Dogs writes on their Facebook page that Liam the Pit Bull was seen running around Westport for the past two weeks.

An animal control officer tracked Liam and was able to catch him and bring him to the Acoset Veterinarian Hospital. The dog sustained a fractured bone after being shot several times in his front right leg.

The animal control officer reached out to Handsome Dan's to ask for help.

Liam was transferred to Handsome Dan's care on Saturday afternoon, but his medical battle is far from over. Handsome Dan's founders write on Facebook that they will have to wait to see what degree of nerve damage Liam sustained before learning whether or not he can keep his leg.
