Man killed during visit to barbershop with 4-year-old son

BOSTON — Police say a man was shot and killed Tuesday while taking his four-year-old son to get a haircut.

The victim, identified as 31-year-old Marcus Hall, had been in a Mattapan barbershop at the time. Police say Hall had just arrived at the business when he was approached by an unknown person.

Hall was shot several times after he and the other person left the barbershop. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police declared the shooting an active homicide investigation and searched the neighborhood for a suspect. Authorities say they believe the victim and suspect knew each other.

Hall's death marks the second fatal shooting in the same neighborhood within a week.

Last Wednesday, only a mile and a half away, a Burke High School student was shot and killed near the school.
