Pedestrian struck, killed in Shrewsbury


SHREWSBURY (AP) — Police are investigating the death of a pedestrian who was struck by an SUV while crossing Route 20 in Shrewsbury.

Police say the man was struck in the eastbound lane at about 6 p.m. Thursday near a mobile home park.

His name was not immediately made public pending notification of family.

Neighbors at the mobile home park tell The Telegram & Gazette ( ) the man who was hit was probably in his 40s and took care of his brother, who is a severe diabetic.

The Jeep Liberty that struck the man was driven by a Vermont woman. The death remains under investigation and no charges have been filed.
