Pedestrian struck by tractor trailer on Route 290 in Northborough

NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – A pedestrian was struck by a tractor trailer on Route 290 in Northborough Monday morning.

Massachusetts State Police responded to the crash on the westbound side of Route 290 around 9:05 a.m.

The 42-year-old Northborough man was pulled over in the break down lane, and for reasons unknown, he walked out into the travel lane and was struck by a tractor trailer.

The victim was transported to UMass Medical Center where he is being treated for his injuries.

The right and center lanes were closed for approximately two hours to allow for rescue operations and the gathering of evidence.

The cause of the crash and the reason the man exited his car is currently under investigation.
