WORCESTER (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – A male pedestrian is in critical condition after being struck in the area of 247 East Mountain Street on Sunday night.
Police responded to the area around 11:30 p.m. and found the 28-year-old male victim lying in the road. The victim had suffered a serious head injury. He was transported to a nearby hospital and is listed in critical condition.
The 24-year-old driver that reportedly struck the pedestrian remained at the scene and talked with police.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the male operator was traveling west on East Mountain Street and struck the pedestrian as he was crossing.
After the impact, the operator came to a controlled stop and ran to the victim to check on his condition and called for help. The victim was crossing in an area that was not properly lit, and he was wearing dark clothing. The victim was not in a marked crosswalk.
No citations have been issued at this time.
The incident remains under investigation.
