Pedestrian hit by car on Memorial Drive in Cambridge identified

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) - State police are investigating after a pedestrian walking along Memorial Drive in Cambridge was struck and killed by a car.

The 50-year-old man from Boston, who police identified as Mark C. Keiser, was struck at about 7 a.m. Tuesday. He was taken by ambulance to Massachusetts General Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Police say he was struck by a Honda Accord driven by a 24-year-old Brighton man in the eastbound lanes.

The reason why the pedestrian was on the roadway is unknown at this time and is part of the investigation. Memorial Drive east was closed for about two hours while police cleared the scene.
