Peabody man accused of robbing woman at drive-up ATM

PEABODY, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – Police in Peabody have arrested a 33-year-old man accused of robbing a woman as she drove through a drive-up ATM on Monday.

Officers responded to the Bank of America ATM located at 189 Andover St. at about 11:20 a.m. for a reported unarmed robbery.

The 35-year-old victim told police a white male got into her car and demanded money as she was in the process of conducting an ATM transaction. The woman complied, and the suspect fled on foot.

Following an initial investigation, police issued an arrest warrant for Gerald Russo, of Peabody. He is facing two charges: unarmed robbery and breaking and entering to a motor vehicle in the daytime for a felony.

Russo turned himself into police at about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday. He is scheduled to be arraigned later in the day.
