LAWRENCE, Mass. — Lawrence Police responded to a motor vehicle crash at approximately 5 p.m. on Sunday and found a woman wounded with what appeared to be gunshots.
The mayor of Lawrence said at this point in their investigation, they believe this all started with a drug deal.

The incident happened on Hillside Avenue in Lawrence. The woman was transported to the Lawrence General Hospital but was pronounced deceased shortly after.
The victim was in a car that ended up crashing into another car, but it is unclear if anyone was in the car with her.
Mayor Dan Rivera told Boston 25 News that it's likely the suspect and the victim knew each other but that they had no connection to this neighborhood.
The suspect did, however, take off on foot from Hillside Avenue.
A few streets over on Olive Avenue there was another scene that sources tell us is connected to this incident where a car crashed into a stone wall in front of a home.
Mayor Rivera could not comment on whether an arrest had been made.
The Essex District Attorney along with the Essex State Police Detective Unit and the Lawrence Police are investigating this incident.
