Patriots offer fans free trade-in on Hernandez jerseys

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- The New England Patriots are offering a free jersey exchange to fans looking to get rid of their Aaron Hernandez jerseys.

The exchange will be offered on jerseys purchased at both the Patriots ProShop or online at PatriotsPropShop.com. The exchange will happen between July 6 and July 7 at the ProShop located at Patriot Place.

The ProShop will be open between 10 a.m. and 9 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday. There will only be one exchange allowed per person.

"We know that children love wearing their Patriots jerseys, but may not understand why parents don't want them wearing their Hernandez jerseys anymore," said New England Patriots spokesperson Stacey James. "We hope this opportunity to exchange those jerseys at the Patriots ProShop for another player's jersey will be well received by parents."

The 23-year-old tight end was released by the Patriots shortly after his arrest Wednesday. Hernandez has been charged with murder in the death of 27-year-old Odin Lloyd.
