FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- The New England Patriots defense lost another one of their captains for the season.
Bill Belichick announced during a press conference Wednesday that the team has placed Jerod Mayo on injury reserve. ESPN.com previously reported the linebacker was not expected to return after having surgery Tuesday to repair a torn pectoral muscle.
"He does a lot for us on the field and off the field. But we're just going to have to move on," said Belichick.
The Patriots resigned Andre Neblett in the wake of Mayo's injury.
The injury-ridden Pats are already missing nose tackle Vince Wilfork who is done for the year after tearing his Achilles tendon
