Patriots keep winning with bad defense

FOXBOROUGH (AP) - The New England Patriots keep winning despite a defense that keeps struggling.

They allowed Buffalo to gain a season-high 481 yards and still beat the Bills 37-31 on Sunday. The Patriots clinched the win when Ryan Fitzpatrick threw an interception right into the hands of Devin McCourty in the end zone with 23 seconds left.

The Patriots have allowed the eighth most yards per game in the NFL but have a 6-3 record and lead the mediocre AFC East by two games going into Sunday's home game against the Indianapolis Colts.

They have been outstanding at forcing turnovers. They had three against the Bills and lead the AFC with 23 takeaways and the NFL with 13 fumble recoveries.
