Patriots head to Buffalo without Gronkowski

BUFFALO, N.Y. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- NFL insiders are reporting New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski will not play in week 1.

NFL.com  reports Gronkowski did not make the trip to Buffalo with the team as they prepare to take on the Bills Sunday.

Patriots fans and fantasy football managers held out hope for Gronk to possibly make an appearance in the first game of the season after he practiced on a limited basis this week. However, he was listed as doubtful for the game.

Gronk is recovering from undergoing back and arm surgeries during the off season.
