Pan-Mass Challenge raises $39M for Jimmy Fund

BOSTON (AP) — Organizers of the Pan-Massachusetts Challenge charity bicycle ride say this year's event raised $39 million for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's Jimmy Fund.

Volunteers and riders for the event gathered in Boston on Sunday to present the $39 million to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute for its cancer research and patient care. The total was $2 million more than what the Pan-Massachusetts Challenge raised last year.

This year's two-day bike event in August included more than 5,500 riders. One hundred percent of every dollar raised by the riders goes to the cancer institute.

The Pan-Massachusetts Challenge has raised more than $410 million for Dana-Farber since it was founded in 1980.
