Owners: Fenway Park 'built to last...30 years, if not 50 years'

FORT MEYERS, Fla. — Fenway Park will be around for a while, owners said at Red Sox spring training Friday.

“I’m not sure that we feel the need to go too much further,” owner John Henry said during a news conference in Fort Meyers, Florida.

“There’s been 15 years of tender loving care going in on an annual basis,” he said. “It’s been sort of built to last. Built to last for the next at least 30 years, if not 50 years.”

A reporter asked Henry about the legendary ball park, asking if some sort of expansion was in the works or if the ball park was at it’s ‘maximum.’

"We continue to make changes; you'll see changes this year. But it's nothing that's driving us," said Henry. "We have some thoughts outside of the ball park – in that area – we own property in that area. I think we should look to develop it in a way that would be meaningful for the fans – the 3 million plus fans that come through each year."
Ultimately, it seems when it comes to changes in Fenway, fans can look for changes "more outside the ball park than inside."
