BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A suspect accused of drunkenly trying to drive into the MBTA Silver Line tunnel was mistakenly identified by Transit police as his brother Friday.
James Tilton, 57, is accused of trying to enter the tunnel in South Boston early Friday morning. Images released by the MBTA show a sedan wedged between two concrete barriers inside the tunnel.
Transit police say Wilton used the name of his estranged brother during booking. After investigators confirmed his identity, they learned he was not who he said he was. They plan to investigate why the incorrect identity came back as confirmed.
Tilton was arraigned in Boston Municipal Court on an operating under the influence charge. He was released on personal recognizance.
