One Pop Warner game results in five concussions

(FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - There are disturbing allegations about a Pop Warner football game that resulted in five concussions.

According to published reports, it happened last month during a Pop Warner youth game between Tantasqua Pee Wees and a Southbridge team.

A hearing found refs failed to invoke the mercy rule, leaving a score of 52 to 0.

All five injured players were 10 to 12 years old. The children missed several days of school because of their injuries.

The Boston Globe reports the coaches were suspended for the season and the three refs who worked the game have been permanently banned.
