RYE, N.H. (MyFoxBoston.com) – Police in New Hampshire are reminding the public they must stay at least 150 feet away from seals or face the possibility of a $50,000 fine.
Last week, video captured a man at Pirate's Cove in Rye pushing a baby seal back towards the water with his foot because he believed it was in danger by being on land; however, police said the man was breaking a federal law and could be subject to a hefty fine.
Officials are not going to pursue that fine, but want to take the opportunity to tell everyone to stay at least 150 feet away from seals and the same goes for pets.
