REVERE, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A group made up of Mohegan Sun's chief executive, Suffolk's Downs leadership and Revere officials outlined what they hope to build in a Revere-only casino bid on Monday. Cox Media Group
The new resort-style casino would be built on the Revere side of Suffolk Downs. It would be a showpiece, according to Mohegan's chief executive officer, Mitchell Etess. He said he would not bring Las Vegas to Revere, but build a project that reflects the local area.
The new partnership comes after a "no" vote on casinos in Palmer - a deal
But once that was voted down and Revere voted yes, Mohegan found a new possible home at Suffolk Downs.
The Mass. Gaming Commission may weigh in on the bid, and so may the city of Revere, which has a public hearing Monday night on zoning issues surrounding the project.
But time is short: An application and artist drawing and cost estimates all have to be done and sent in with an application by Dec. 31.
