• Officials: Hoarding issue may have played role in Wayland fire

WAYLAND, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – A fire tore through a home on Cochituate Road in Wayland early Sunday morning.

Fire officials told FOX 25 the fire started in the kitchen and spread through the rest of the home, setting off a second alarm.

One person was transported to the hospital, but is expected to survive.

According to fire officials, overgrown trees and items in and around the house made the firefighters' job difficult.

The Department of Public Health is also looking into the fire as officials believe the resident may have a hoarding problem.

The DPH and the fire department will meet Monday to investigate the conditions of the house and to confirm the cause of the fire.
