Officials: HBO to film series on Mass. North Shore

BOSTON (AP) - North Shore residents may soon be seeing film crews crowding local streets.

A new four-part HBO miniseries starring Frances McDormand of "Fargo" fame is scheduled to begin filming in the area this fall.

That's according to the Massachusetts Film Office, which said the series should be an economic boon to the area. The production is using Massachusetts-based businesses and services and has hired some local cast.

Officials at the Film Office describe the miniseries as the story of a "seemingly placid New England town wrought with illicit affairs, crime and tragedy."

The production is HBO's second in Massachusetts recently.

The film "Clear History," starring Larry David, Kate Hudson, and Michael Keaton was filmed on the North Shore last year.

The comedy debuted earlier this month.
