Officials: Chelmsford building destroyed by fire to be demolished

CHELMSFORD, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – A vacant building destroyed by fire in Chelmsford late Wednesday night will need to be demolished.

Fire officials said the three-story building at 255 Princeton Street is unstable and dangerous. Officials said the building will need to be strategically demolished so that investigators can try to determine how and where the fire started.

The building is owned by UMass Lowell and has not been used in years.

Fire officials said the demolition will likely happen after the Labor Day holiday.

An investigation is ongoing.
