Norwood middle schooler offered ride from stranger

NORWOOD, Mass. — Students in Norwood are being reminded of "stranger danger" after a truck driver stopped Tuesday afternoon asking a middle school student if she wanted a ride home.

Superintendent Dr. David Thomson confirms to Boston 25 News they learned of the incident Wednesday morning, and contacted parents about it.

Families were asked to review safety steps with their kids - including a reminder not to approach vehicles, run away if approached, or yelling if necessary.

The school department is working with the police department, and asked anyone to contact them with information about any suspicious activities or events.

Dr. Thomson said schools will review protocols from students next week as well.
