NH woman arrested in connection with fatal hit and run

NASHUA, N.H. (MyFoxBoston.com) – Police arrested a woman Thursday in connection with a fatal hit and run that occurred in Nashua, N.H. in February.

The crash happened at about 7:20 p.m. on Feb. 23 in the area of West Hollis Street.

After the crash, detectives identified a dark colored SUV through surveillance footage as being the car involved. An anonymous tipster identified the possible driver. After an investigation, detectives found the owner of the dark colored SUV that they believe was involved in the crash. While conducting surveillance of the suspect's home and surrounding area, they stopped her in her SUV and seized it after finding damage on the car consistent with the crash.

Detectives then gathered enough information to issue an arrest warrant for the driver.

At about 4:26 p.m. Thursday, the driver, Cara Smith, 39, of Nashua, turned herself in and was arrested on charges of conduct after an accident.

Smith was held on $50,000 cash bail and will be arraigned Friday.

The investigation remains ongoing.
