WINDHAM, NH (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A New Hampshire school district is banning a traditional school yard game because they say it promotes violence and bullying.
The Eagle-Tribune reports the Windham School Committee voted four to one in favor of removing dodgeball, along with 9 other so-called "human target" activities, from the curriculum. The superintendent told the newspaper the game counters their anti-bullying campaign.
The vote was prompted by a committee of physical education teachers who studied the issue after a parent complained about their child being bullied and singled-out during a dodgeball game.
Critics of the decision say the targeting is part of the strategy of the game and that most students understand that.
